M.A  and  Ph.D. THESES  EVALUATION

1. 2017. Was appointed an external examiner by the English Department, the University of Najran, KSA, to evaluate the MA Thesis titled "Strategies for Translating English Culturally-bound Expressions into Arabic: The Case of Selected Rendered Texts of Narnia Chronicles,"  done by Ms. Abrar Al-Gahtani, on 12th December, 2017. She defended her MA thesis successfully.

 

2. 2014. Was appointed an external examiner by the English and Foreign Languages University at Hyderabad, India to evaluate the Ph.D Thesis titled "The Acquisition of Yemeni Ibb Arabic: The Development of Verbal Morphology and Overt Subject Realization", done by Mr. Fawaz Ali Ahmed Qasem, on 18th July, 2014, Department of English, Mysore University, India.

 

3. 2010. Was appointed an external examiner by Taiz University to evaluate and conduct the Viva-voce of the M.A Thesis titled "Sentential Negation in Modern Standard Arabic: A Minimalist Approach", done by Ms. Amani Mohammed Lutf Al-Thari, on 22nd June, 2010, in the Department of English, Center of Languages & Translation, Taiz University, Yemen.

 

4. 2010. Was appointed an external examiner by the University of Mysore, India to evaluate the Ph.D Thesis titled "Race, Class, and Gender in the Narratives of Nadine Gordimer", done by Mr. Thandava Gowda T. N., on 12th June, 2010, Department of English, Mysore University, India.

 

5. 2009. Was appointed an external examiner by Hodeidah University to evaluate and conduct the Viva-voce of the M.Ed. CONSULTANCY EXPERIENCE

  1. Worked as an International Consultant (2007-2008) for Delft University of Technology (TUDelft), the Netherlands, and was in charge of the Dutch NPT/YEM/241 training project held in the Yemen Center of Information Technology (YCIT) at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Yemen; it aimed to train and qualify all ICT and teaching staff in the public universities.

 

  1. Worked as an International Consultant (from October 2007 to June 2008) for the Higher Education Development Project in the Yemeni Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Arabian Advanced Systems Company (based in UAE and Saudi Arabia), that carried out the E-library project of three public universities (Sana'a, Aden and Ibb).

 

  1. Chairman of the Dutch e-library project (2004 –2008) in the Ministry of Higher Education in Yemen.  

 

TRANSLATION EXPERIENCE

- Was in charge of all translation in the website of Najran University, KSA (2010-2011).

- Was in charge of all translation and interpreting activities at Ibb University Headquarters.

- Taught translation courses in the Department of English, Ibb University.

- Supervised all written translation and interpreting services offered to the society/market by the Center of Languages and Translation, Ibb University, Yemen.

- Worked as a translator in Yemen and abroad and translated scientific, literary, political, religious and legal texts as well as business documents and movies.

 

ICT  EXPERIENCE

  1. NPT Project and the World Bank project carried out by Delft University of Technology in Holland, in collaboration with the Higher Education Development Project, Yemen.

 

  1.  Coordinator of the ICT Master Plan (2004-2007) between the Higher Education Development Project and the University of Ibb.

 

WOKSHOPS

  1. Attended and participated in the training workshop (The Essential Academic Leader" organized by the Academic Leadership Center of the Ministry of Higher Education- the Kingdom of Saudia Arabia, held in Najran University (for two days  in February, 2011)

 

2. Attended and participated in the training workshop organized by Oregon State University English Language Institute Experts, held in Dhamar University (for three weeks in May, 2008) which was designed for developing and updating the teaching skills of the Yemeni teaching faculty members and how to deal with large classes in the universities, in collaboration with the Higher Education Development Project in the Ministry of Higher Education, Yemen,  

 

  1. Was invited by Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands and received training in   "Management and Consultancy in Higher Education" for three weeks in August, 2008.
